1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through websites operated by MGAM (“we,” “us,” or “our”) that link to this policy. It does not apply to employee, clinical-trial participant, investigator, vendor, or business-partner information governed by a separate notice or agreement. It also applies to software MGAM distributes under its own name, which at present means Walkfigure; because that software runs on your computer rather than on ours, section 12 sets out separately what it does and does not send.
2. Information we collect
This website does not offer account registration or forms for submitting personal information.
We may also receive limited technical information automatically, including browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, approximate location derived from IP address, pages viewed, and interaction timestamps. The specific information available depends on the hosting and analytics services enabled for the website.
3. How we use information
We may use information to:
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website;
- Understand website usage and performance;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements; and
- Protect the rights, safety, and integrity of MGAM, our users, and others.
4. How we share information
We may share information with service providers that support website hosting, security, and professional services. These providers are expected to process information only for authorized purposes and subject to appropriate safeguards.
We may also disclose information when required by law, in connection with a corporate transaction, to protect legal rights or safety, or with your direction or consent. We do not sell personal information in exchange for money.
5. Cookies and local storage
This website stores your light or dark theme preference in your browser’s local storage. The website does not use advertising cookies.
6. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including to respond to inquiries, maintain business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal requirements. Retention periods may vary by record type and applicable law.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of certain personal information, or to object to or withdraw consent for certain processing. You may also have a right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.
Where applicable, we may need to verify your identity and may retain limited information as necessary to document and fulfill a rights request.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children’s privacy
This website is intended for a general business and scientific audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website.
10. International processing
Information may be processed in countries other than the country in which you reside. Where required, we use appropriate mechanisms intended to protect personal information transferred across borders.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above indicates when the policy was last revised. Material changes may be communicated through the website or by other appropriate means.
12. Walkfigure, the software
Walkfigure is a program you download and run on your own computer. It is free and it has no account. Your videos, the measurements taken from them, and the projects Walkfigure saves are written to your own machine and are never uploaded. The analysis itself — the pose estimation and the biomechanical model — runs entirely on your processor. We cannot see any of it, and we cannot see that you are running the program at all.
There is one exception, and it is Somi. Somi is the optional assistant in the corner of the 3D view. It answers using a language model that is not ours and does not run on your machine, so using it sends data off your computer. Everything else in Walkfigure works without it, and if you never use Somi nothing leaves your machine.
What Somi sends, and to whom. When you ask Somi something, what you type and the measurements it reads in order to answer are sent to a service MGAM operates, which passes them to Cloudflare’s language models and returns the reply. That service exists so that Somi works without you having to obtain an API key of your own. It reads only which model to use and how long the answer may be; it does not inspect, log or store the content of your messages or the measurements, and MGAM keeps no record of them. Cloudflare handles what it receives under its own terms, not ours.
If you would rather not involve us at all, Walkfigure can be pointed at a provider directly with an API key of your own, by setting the base URL and key it uses. Somi then talks to that provider and nothing passes through MGAM. This is also the way to avoid sharing the daily allowance that our service runs on.
Treat Somi as a third party, because it is one. Do not type anything into it you would not send outside your organisation, and note that gait measurements can relate to an identifiable person even when no name is attached. If you are bound by professional or clinical confidentiality, that obligation applies to what you put in front of Somi.
The local service. Walkfigure can expose a REST interface so other programs on the same computer can drive it. It is bound to the loopback address, is protected by a token, and keeps an audit log. It is not reachable from the network or the internet.
Children. Section 9 concerns this website. Walkfigure has a children’s mode, and a child’s walk may be recorded and analysed with it. That analysis is local and we receive none of it. Somi should not be used with a child’s data, because it is the one path by which that data would leave the computer.
The people you record. If you record someone else, the responsibility for their consent and for the care of their recording is yours. The licence agreement shown by the installer says so, and where you act in a professional or clinical capacity your own obligations apply to what Walkfigure produces.
